The Current

I’ve always said that these blogs would be written when they were inspired, or channeled…when it was their time.  Interesting that I’m beginning to write this on the eve of the Sun entering gate/key 12, the cautionary tale of right timing to speak.  I went back to look when the last blog I wrote was posted…Oct 24th, 2025.

The current of life.

In a version of the I Ching, the 12 is called “Standstill”.  In Chinese, it is known as 否 (Pǐ), and it represents a state where heaven and earth are separated — energy is blocked and communication is halted. It’s associated with a period of withdrawal, caution, and waiting for conditions to improve.

That is certainly what life became just four days after posting the last blog.  In a nutshell, I was surprise notified of being laid off from my long standing job.  Two weeks later, my older son ruptured his appendix, which became almost four months of medical complication adventures.

During that period, life was a standstill.  The lone remaining pillar of the past’s foundation fell - the sort of saving grace when you lose everything in life either completely or to varying degrees and you say “well, at least I still have this”, and might view it as something fortified in tower moments - and despite already feeling like I was in a liminal space with no light on what’s ahead, the belay system rope snapped, and I free fell off the mountain.  Then while falling, life threw jagged rocks beneath me to crash onto via my son.  I went from the uncertainty of losing the stability I had, into not being able to focus on work due to concern and presence for my child.

The standstill.  You will lose it all, and you will be nowhere but here.  You will walk through the darkness, no matter the fear, or worry, and there won’t be any choice to make other than to be present to what is being experienced.  It is in God’s hands.

In the act of my awareness came the reward of observing the blessing that had unfolded.  I was given the time away from the pressures and stresses of the corporate world, to focus on the serious medical journey of my son.  I would not have been able to perform the work.  I know this.  I was taken care of while taking care of my own.  When the last surgery was completed, and my son healed from that to the point of returning to normal function, I was asked about returning to my old job.  They did not know of these medical adventures. The timing in the end of that coincided with the end of severance.  Things lined up in a way that could not be orchestrated by a human.

Even in the standstill, the current of life flows.  It may not be seen clearly in the moment.  It may not be understood.  If you have awareness going for you, it is helpful…yet there is still unfolding in right timing that is beyond comprehension.  It seems best to release the mind, let go, and sit down at the seat of the soul during these times.  They certainly bring perspective to why sitting at the seat of the soul should be the default and not the go-to in a time of need or desperation.
